McIntosh Laboratory has introduced the MHT200 A/V System Controller. The MHT200 features an eight-channel built-in amplifier (140 watts per channel), with six channels used to power a home theatre and the remaining two channels for second-zone use. Inputs and outputs include component, S-video, and composite video switching; and eight analog and six digital audio inputs. The MHT200 includes 24-bit DSP processing for DolbyÆ Digital, Dolby Pro Logic II, and DTSÆ, plus 6.1 processing for expansion modes. A 24-bit stereo A/D converter is applied to the analog input, and four 24-bit stereo D/A converters are used at the DSP module output. The MHT200 has internal sequential switching of a noise generator for system calibration. Calibration can be performed manually, or the MHT200 will automatically calibrate the room's speaker levels and delay times with the supplied microphone. A tuner expansion slot is provided for a McIntosh TM-1 AM/FM tuner module. The MHT200 is available now at a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $6,100.
